The Class 64xx 0-6-0 pannier tanks were introduced in 1932. The first was withdrawn in August 1958 and the last in December 1964. One locomotive from the early series ( No. 6412) has been preserved. The Bachmann models represent locomotives in the 6400-6429 number series, with the early style cab and bunker design. Auto-fitted detailing is also represented. The 64xx Class are Auto-trailer compatible.

The Locomotive is equipped with a six pin DCC socket on the printed circuit board, which is ready to accept 6 pin DCC decoders.
